Hatboro Welcomes More Than 50 New Businesses
The Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce welcomed the owners of more than 50 new borough businesses with a group ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception hosted by Hatboro Federal Savings at the bank's York Road headquarters on May 8.
"We extend a warm welcome, with a pledge to help promote all the new businesses that have opened in downtown Hatboro since January 2011, increasing our occupancy rate from 76% to 98%," says Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce President Joseph J. Tryon, Jr. "The combined efforts of key area civic and business-related organizations such as Main Street Hatboro, Hatboro Borough Council, and our chamber, have put us on an accelerated path toward revitalization of this special community. Having created more than 300 new jobs over the last 18 months, we are now the fastest growing small town in Eastern Montgomery County."
Hatboro's new businesses include restaurants, food purveyors, caterers, antique shops, a vintage records shop, a furniture outlet, clothing boutiques, hair and nail salons and spas, computer-related and construction-related services, as well as medical, legal, dental and other professional enterprises.
"Under Joe Tryon's leadership, the chamber's Managing Director Meredith Baker, active chamber members, Main Street Manager Steve Barth, Hatboro Mayor Norman Hawkes, Hatboro Borough Council President John Zygmont, as well as other borough council members, and Borough Manager Steve Plaugher have all been instrumental in renewing enthusiasm among our existing businesses, as well as tapping into the energy created by our new business neighbors," says Main Street Hatboro President Robert Johnston. "Hatboro Federal Savings is once again leading the way with community-minded support by offering a place to celebrate our growth, and the personnel to help us do so."
The chamber, located at 220 S. York Road, hosts special and annual events to support area businesses, both large and small, including the Halloween Stroll, Holiday Parade and Moonlight Memories Car Show. The show is now in its 20th year, and draws more than 50,000 visitors to Hatboro each July.
