Since its launch in November, 2011, the Bucks County Veterans ID Discount Card program has processed approximately 3,200 cards for county veterans, according to the Recorder of Deeds Joseph J. Szafran Jr..
The program, initially available only at the Recorder of Deeds office on the second floor of the Bucks County Courthouse, will be offered at two upcoming Senior Expos. Those dates and locations include:
- Friday, April 13 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.): Rep. Scott Petri’s Senior Expo, Spring Mill Manor, 171 Jacksonville Rd., Ivyland
- Thursday, April 19 (10 a.m.-1 p.m.): Sen. Chuck McIlhinney’s Senior Expo, Levittown Fire Company No. 1 (Colonial Hall), 701 Fallsington-Tullytown Rd., Levittown, PA 19059
“We are pleased to continue our outreach to veterans and active duty heroes, providing the opportunity to have their cards processed at locations around Bucks County,” stated Szafran, whose staff administrates the program. “The response to the program has been superb.”
Interested veterans must bring their original DD-214 form in order for the Recorder of Deeds staff to proceed with issuing the cards. Information about the program is available by calling 215-348-6209.
To date, more than 100 Bucks County businesses have agreed to offer substantial veterans discounts (5-20 percent on merchandise and services) to those holding the Bucks County Veterans ID card, and more are signing up to participate each day.
