The Centennial Operations Committee passed a motion that proposes delaying the move from the old McDonald Elementary to the newly constructed building. Instead of making the transition in March, during the district's spring break, administration wil begin making the move once the school year ends in June. The issue will go before the full school board for approval on Dec. 11.
The Warminster Board of Supervisors meeting scheduled for tonight has been canceled. The supervisors will hold the final meeting of the year on Dec. 20, where they will vote to accept the final 2013 budget.

It is about time the school district got real with their scheduled move from the old McDonald Elem building to the new building. The idea of moving DURING the school year was ludicrous.

It was obvious even to an untrained eye in September that the new McDonald would not be ready for the proposed move in March. The Adminstration and Board are so far removed from reality it is quite frightning that they are overseeing our children's education. Curious to find out if they will rescind the extra days off in March they added for the move. It would be nice if the students get out of school earlier than the end of June. Congratulations Centennial School District, you have proven again how inept you are.

A reduction of the March spring break has, in fact, been proposed because of the days used during Hurricane Sandy. I'll have more on it later, but the days off will instead be Tuesday, March 26, and Friday, March 29.

James- can you please clarify your post. At this point our kids are supposed to be off Monday, March 25th through Monday, April 1st. Are you saying they would take away the two Mondays, and have the kids off from the 26 to 29th?
Thanks

Sorry for the confusion. The reduction would be down to only two days off, the 26th and 29th. School will be in session Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and the following Monday.

So the kids would be in school Monday the 25th, off Tuesday the 26th, in Wednesday the 27th and Thursday the 28th and off Friday the 29th? That makes no sense at all. I just hope the school board makes their decision early. This has been the first year ever that CSD has been off for the entire week prior to Easter. I know several families that are making travel plans and will need to adjust if the schedule changes.

Longstreth should not have been closed until the new school opened. Recess is ridiculous in the current space. One move for everyone would have been much more desirable.
