Poll: How Old Is Too Old to Trick or Treat?
When is the right time to be the one giving the candy instead of taking the candy?
With Halloween right around the corner and kids everywhere considering what they will dress up as, we are polling parents to find out when they think kids should stop trick or treating.

C'mon!! Halloween is fun!! Candy is a main part of it, but so is getting to dress up. I have had LOTS of fun in this area, and won some $$$ too. What makes it so much fun, is that it gives you the chance to be creative, and be a kid at heart at the same time. :D

I don't need to worry about it anymore. I just let the kids go out and get all the candy, then pinch some off of them. Not only do I not have to do any of the work, it also serves as an object lesson on taxes. Win-win.

Middle school, to me, is fine. High schoolers only get candy at my house if they're in costume - and not dressed up as "a teenager."

To stick to the actual tradition of Halloween being the festival of Samhain, dressing in costume was to ward off the spirits, and celebrated with treats such as soul cakes. There is no age limit to the celebrations, it should be open to anyone who is festive!

That's an interesting way to look at it. Does anyone else practice Halloween this way?

Halloween has many wonderful traditions it just has become way to commercialized. I personally enjoy seeing anyone who feels the need to dress up do it! It is a celebration which most see as paganism, I myself see a fantastic festival to honor the wonderful seasons, the dead who are guided home by the lights of the pumpkins, the fun of people laughing, its a time when neighbors who normally do not see one another have a chance to, its a way that one can be connected to the earth!

The younger kids usually come around earlier, followed by the older kids as the night wears on. I don't mind passing out candy to anyone who stops by. I still like candy myself so I can't blame the older kids for wanting some, too. As long as they are polite, it's no problem. However, there's a line. One teenager came to my door, no costume, cigarette hanging out of his mouth, held up a bag and nodded to it as he puffed away. Told him if he could afford cigarettes he could buy his own candy, and shut the door in his face.

Mar - that's unbelievable that he had no costume on and was smoking! I would've done the same thing!
