There is just nothing quite like the Summer Olympics. The intensity of the athletes, the engaging back stories of how hard they worked and trained to reach the biggest stage of their lives, the feeling of pride as the United States racks up medal after medal.

They are a big deal around Warminster Patch HQ, and we can't wait to see tonight's opening ceremonies in London. It's going to be near-impossible to match the theatrics of the Beijing Olympics' celebration, but that won't diminish the excitement for the competitions over the next couple weeks. 

Sports like swimming and track and field are not usually appointment television for us. But once every four years, we cannot tear ourselves away from the screen out of fear we will miss something historic, like Michael Phelps' amazing performance in the pool in 2008.
