Vandals Add 'Abortion Clinic' to Safetytown
One of the facades in the play town located at Warminster Community Park has been defaced.
Since opening its gates last summer, Safetytown has attracted an inevitable amount of minor vandalism, with black Xes scrawled on several signs hanging throughout the play village.
An extreme case of defacement has been discovered this past weekend, however. The facade carrying a sign for McDonough Plumbing & Heating has the name blacked out and replaced with "Abortion Clinic" in what appears to be permanent marker. It is unknown how long the sign has been altered.
"It is terrible when people feel the need to express themselves by defacing a childrens play area," said Warminster Rotary President Greg Hucklebridge in an e-mailed statement. "While we (members of Warminster Rotary) are disappointed to see it happen at Safetytown, the township Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for maintaining all facilities at Warminster Community Park. That being said, if assistance is needed I am sure the Warminster Rotary Club would help."
The concept of a Safetytown play area was developed, funded and constructed through efforts by members of the Warminster Rotary, with the guidance of the Warminster Parks & Recreation Department. The miniaturized representation of popular Warminster businesses and landmarks opened to the public in the summer of 2011.

While I don't condone the vandalism to Safety Town, the real tragedy is that we have an abortion "clinic" in a community that aspires to be a great place to raise a family.

Planned Parenthood provides vital health services to the women and men of this area. We should all be lucky that there are people who will dedicate themselves to the well being of others despite the negative attacks so often thrown about the ignorant of our area. The real tragedy is that people with opinions such as yours can't see that. Do myself and everyone else in this town a favor, and if your are so opposed to abortion, help educate and offer alternatives, but don't force your view or opinion and look down on those who may choose abortion.

Got to love the ignorant and uneducated men like Tony. I'm glad John seems to have a good head on his shoulders at least. People like you Tony are the creation of the unnecessary"objections to having them"in areas. Planned Parenthood provides MANY services to help men and women...it's not just an "abortion clinic" like your mind can't seem to comprehend.Planned Parenthood provided mammogram service for my sister that caught her breast cancer early.It provides many health services pelvic exams,pap tests,gynecological exams (in which caught my ovarian cancer), etc. Just because your a guy and want to control woman's bodies, but heaven forbid if women were to say that all guys have to get a hysterectomy, I can't imagine the uproar. But hey that would save all those unwanted babies your so concerned about, but wouldn't want to pay for or have anything to do with once they are born into unwanted,poor or abusive homes. Just because YOU don't want use their services doesn't mean that others don't need them. I don't like golf or prostitutes but a lot of guys do...so should I bitch and moan and try and remove all the golf courses...No...its their life not mine let them live THEIR life. If its such a great place to raise a family...how comes there's no (parental) control over the kids? Whether it be vandalizing this property or all the accidental pregnancies that parents don't even know about & most likely wouldn't be so happy about their teen having a baby. Its THEIR body THEIR life.

It makes me wonder - did the vandals realize abortion would become a topic of dispute on The Patch?

I'm sure the vandals realized the effect of their actions. Peoplt to abortion don't need to use that option. they have no right to impose their views upon anyone else. Planned Parenthood supplies many needed health services to those who otherwise could not afford them. If you care so much, I suggest you form an organization and hire medical professionals to provide equally cost effective health services to those who now go to Planned Parenthood, minus the abortions. Then, and only then, are you part of your desired solution. Your previous comments only make you part of the problem.

seems to me that the people who vandalized safetytown are those who were against abortion. Just goes to show the extreme that these type of "live by my rules" will go to inorder to express their message. It's bad enough that we have to explain to our children about the signs on their lawns. Can't you keep your opinion to your self and just not use the services provided?

There is no reasoning with the anti-choice crowd (such as Tony). They don't care that PP offers other life-saving services. They don't care that PP wants to reduce the number of abortions by providing access to contraception. They don't care if women die because they cannot afford cancer screenings and seek those screenings at PP. All they care about is the fetus, period. They are convinced (i.e. "brainwashed") by their religious affiliations to pretend they care about "life" when all they really want is control over a woman's ability to procreate.
