Warminster Dance Studio Hosts Anti-Bullying Event for National Unity Day

The Bravo Dance Center held the event last Friday night.

Bravo Dance Center in Warminster recognized National Bullying Prevention Month by uniting in music and dance to bring awareness to bullying prevention last Friday. Students participated in this movement by learning the official Unity Dance Day choreography followed by performing on camera to be sent to local and national news outlets.

In addition to learning the official choreography, students spoke on why they “care” about bullying prevention. These statements included personal experiences, general statements and facts, or sharing someone else’s story.  The participating students also signed PACER's "The End of Bullying Begins with Me" petition as well as wore the official orange Unity Day t-shirt during their performance and taping.

Unity Day evolved from an organization called PACER.  PACER Center is a parent training and information center for families of children and youth with all disabilities from birth through 21 years old. Located in Minneapolis, it serves families across the nation.

In 2006, PACER created this National Bullying Prevention campaign with a one-week event which has now evolved into a month-long effort in October that encourages everyone to take an active role in the bullying prevention movement.

The End of Bullying Begins with Me is the message during PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Month.  It’s a time when communities can unite nationwide to raise awareness of bullying prevention through events, activities, outreach, and education. The owners of Bravo Dance Center, Lauren Kulp and Lindsay Keegan, hope this campaign gives their students the information and resources they need to make a stand against bullying in their everyday lives.
