Weekend Planner: Pancakes, 5K and Zumbathon Fundraisers
There are plenty of worthy causes to support this weekend.
IVYLAND FIRE COMPANY PANCAKE BREAKFAST
Where/when: Ivyland Fire Co., 62 Wilson Ave., Ivyland, Sunday, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
Why go: Enjoy some homemade flapjacks and suasage and support the local fire department.
Cost: $7
Where/when: Warminster Community Park, 300 Veterans Cir., Warminster, Saturday, 9-11:30 a.m.
Why go: Alex Boyes was a committed Gilda’s Club volunteer, and even completed his Eagle Scout project there. In the fall of 2009, at the age of 22, he died from cancer. All funds raised from the event will stay locally to support Gilda’s Club Delaware Valley in its mission to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone.
Cost: $25 to race
Where/when: SMG Sportsplex, 654 York Rd., Warminster, Sunday 9 a.m.-noon.
Why go: Proceeds benefit the Women’s Recovery Community Center in New Britain, which offers a variety of support services to help women sustain long-term recovery. The first 50 people to register will receive a free T-shirt.
Cost: $20
Where/when: Erzgebirge, 130 Davisville Rd., Warminster, Saturday, 4-10 p.m.
Why go: Proceeds benefit community charities. Children are welcome for a free hot dog dinner.
Cost: $35
Where/when: 1 N. Main St., Doylestown, Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Why go: The two-day juried festival features artisans showcasing their creative works – jewelry in a variety of mediums, clothing, furniture, accessories, pottery, photography, paintings and more.
