Weekend Planner: Old-Fashioned Games at the Moland House

From a folk festival to a peach festival, music and more, this weekend features tastes for all to enjoy.

 

There's no shortage of family fun this weekend. Everything from music to, shopping to sweet peach-filled treats are ripe for the picking this weekend. Here are some options.

GAMES AND TOURS AT MOLAND HOUSE

Where/when: 1641 Old York Rd., Hartsville, Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy old-fashioned games no matter what your age and while you're there, watch a video about how the house was saved and restored to the time when the Continental Army was camped at the site for 13 days in August of 1777. 

Cost: Donations gratefully accepted

BARBONE STREET JAZZ BAND

Where/when: Lions Grove Bandstand at Tamanend Park, 1255 2nd Street Pike, Upper Southampton, Sunday at 6:30 p.m.

Why go: The Barbone Street Jazz Band will delight those in attendance with favorite musical selections from jazz favorites such as Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington among others.

Cost: Free

SECOND SATURDAY HATBORO

Where/when: Downtown Hatboro, Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.

Why go: Hear live music, including Elvis Presley tunes performed by “Elvis Pretzel,” and take advantage of merchant discounts at selected stores.

Cost: Free

FOLK FESTIVAL

Where/when: Henry Antes Plantation, 318 Colonial Road, Perkiomenville, Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why go: Old-fashioned Pennsylvania Dutch foods, authentic period costumes, hands-on educational opportunities learning how to dip candles, create rag dolls, constructing garments and more.

Cost: $10

PEACH FESTIVAL

Where/when: Peddler’s Village, routes 202 and 263, Lahaska, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why go: Taste peach treats throughout the walkable village while enjoying live music and shopping deals during the sidewalk sales.

Cost: Free

TREASURE HUNT!

Where/when: Mercer Museum, 84 S. Pine St., Doylestown, Friday, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Why go: Use metal detectors to seek out treasure as part of this family-friendly exhibit.
