Weekend Planner: Veterans Job Fair, Miles for Kyle, Art Show

HIRING HEROES JOB FAIR

Where/when: 263 Marketplace, 700 York Rd., Warminster. Fri. 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Why go: Though primarily for veterans, the job fair is open to all seeking employment. Participating companies include Allied Barton Security Systems, AutoZone, Berks Employment and Beyond, Ken Crest Home Health Care, Lowes Home Improvement and Sterling Limousine

Cost: Free

MILES FOR KYLE RUN/WALK 

Where/when: Warminster Community Park,   300 Veterans Cir., Warminster, Sunday. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and the race gets underway at 9 a.m.

Why go: The annual 5K run and walk provides college scholarships to three William Tennent High School students. The fundraiser is done in memory of Kyle Quinn, who was killed on Sept. 7, 2007 at Kutztown University.

Cost: $25 for adults by Friday; $30 the day of the race.

NOMADIC ARTISTS OF FIVE PONDS OPENING RECEPTION

Where/when: Bucks County Visitors Center, 3207 Street Rd., Bensalem. Sunday, 2-4 p.m.

Why go: Celebrate the new exhibit of creations by local artists. The gallery will be featured at the Bucks County Visitors Center until Oct. 26.

Cost: Free

HATBORO LIBRARY BAZAAR AND BOOKSALE

Where/when: The Union Library of Hatboro, 243 S. York Road, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: Round up plenty of bargain books by the bagful and shred unwanted documents at the same place/time.

Cost: Depends on what you buy.

HATBORO-HORSHAM FALL COUNTRY CRAFT SHOW

Where/when: Hatboro-Horsham High School, 899 Horsham Road, Horsham, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: Proceeds from the 20th annual craft show benefit the Hatboro-Horsham High School marching band.

Cost: Free admission.

SECOND SATURDAY HATBORO

Where/when: Hatboro’s downtown shopping district along York Road, Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.

Why go: Discover the arts as entertainers perform at Village Pretzels; stop by Be Jeweled by JMD Gifts for its grand opening and the chance to win jewelry; and enjoy special discounts at select merchants.

Cost: Free to stroll.

SENIOR EXPO

Where/when: Simmons Elementary School, 411 Babylon Road, Horsham, Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Why go: Hosted by state reps. Tom Murt and Todd Stephens, the Senior Health and Lifestyle Expo will provide medical screenings, such as blood pressure or hydration tests; and will have health care experts on hand to answer questions and provide information on what services are available for older Pennsylvanians.

Cost: Free
