Update, 4:30 p.m.: A statement released by the Warminster Police Department about the security threat made against Archbishop Wood says that the incident may have been a hoax.  

Warminster police and K-9 units, along with officers from other departments, swept the school grounds Thursday night and deemed the building safe and clear of hazards at midnight.

Archbishop Wood officials contacted the Warminster police after a threatening note left on a door was discovered by a student Thursday, according to a spokesperson from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Kenneth Gavin, associate director of communication for the Archdiocese, sent an e-mail to Patch reporters describing the school's response Thursday night. At 7 p.m., Gavin writes, parents were notified by school administration and informed that students would have to enter the school through a single entrance and have their bags searched.

"(The police) conducted a thorough search of the building and grounds last night and cleared the school following their search," wrote Gavin. "School opened as usual this morning without incident. We are very grateful to the police for all of their efforts to ensure the safety of the Archbishop Wood High School community."
