Wood Seniors Celebrate the Past While Looking Toward the Future
The Wood senior prom was held Friday evening at the Ben Franklin House in Philadelphia.
Despite the threat of rain and the disposition of Friday the 13th, Archbishop Wood’s 2011 senior prom went off without a hitch Friday night at the Ben Franklin House in Philadelphia.
The group of excited and well-dressed seniors enjoyed a night of life-long memory formulating fun, but after the limo drivers head home, the tuxedos are returned, and the seniors’ tasseled caps are thrown high, it’s time to start thinking about the future.
Bianca Gibson is just one of the many seniors that will be graduating from Wood this year. She plans to spend her summer “Working, getting ready for college, and having fun.” Gibson will be attending Alvernia University to study criminal justice.
Mary Murphy will also be graduating this year and plans to go to college and earn her teaching degree to become an art teacher. “I’m just really excited to graduate” Murphy said, “Thank God!”
Murphy’s feeling of relief was shared by fellow senior, John Darlin. “It feels great to finally get here and everything after four years” Darlin said.
Heather Aurelia will be going to Montgomery Community College this fall, but only after a much needed summer vacation. Aurelia plans to study psychology and to one day become a couple’s therapist.
Not everyone will be continuing their academic careers, though. Senior, Amanda Lanzetta already has a license in cosmetology and plans to continue pursuing a career in that field after graduation. Not envious of her studious classmates, Lanzetta wishes them all the best of luck.
“It’s been a great four years” Gibson said. Gibson also said that she will miss Wood. “Not the classes, but the people.”
