Voting (for ATTICUS FINCH) is the best revenge.
This year, after working against the badly written voter ID law, I discovered that 47 of the 104 state representatives and five of the senators that voted for this law are running unopposed in the November election.
I thought the fact that voters in their districts will have no say at the polls was outrageous. Four of them are right here in Bucks County.
That is why a write-in campaign for ATTICUS FINCH was started against Daryl Metcalfe, the architect of the law, and the other 51 members of the PA Assembly that are running unopposed.
That’s why we’re asking voters who live in these districts to write-in ATTICUS FINCH, the hero of Harper Lee’s Civil Rights masterpiece “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
Atticus is a figure who truly stands for the idea that Civil Rights, including the right to vote, come first and that our elections should include everyone – not just those who can jump through the hoops to get a state-approved photo ID with an expiration date.
A message that messing with our right to vote is not acceptable needs to be sent. There are four representatives running unopposed in Bucks County, more than any other county in the state. I am also hoping that if you see that a fictitious character makes a showing in November, that it will give someone who lives these districts the courage to run against them in 2014.

A person needs an I.D. to basically transact any type of business, be it banking, or
procuring a bottle of wine. Why not voting ?????

Andrew, you do go through an ID process when you go to vote, you sign the poll book and your signature has to match. If not you are asked for ID. The issue is not the ID, the issue is the flawed law. It changed the rules midstream for hundreds of thousands of people who had been voting legally for years. The implementation of the law should go down in history as one of the biggest cluster messes in history. The dept of state had no time to analyse the law so during its implementation it changed the rules for getting ID 9 times confusing the staff at PennDOT who were constantly giving out wrong info, making people who do not drive make multiple trips to their inconvenient locations with limited hours. At this point the ID required only needs an affirmation, no back up documents of any type, including even a social security number. I believe, as I wrote to the whole assembly before the law was passed, that the way to go about it was to require ID to REGISTER to vote, like the ID that was required for first time voters. Better and mandatory training of poll workers would do more to stop any appearance of fraud, than this law could ever hope to accomplish. The problem is the law was not passed to stop fraud, just voting.

. You can even discount Rep Turzai's statement by just seeing the types of ID required for voting. It made ID many people were using for their day to day transactions invalid for voting because they didn't have an expiration date. They had your name and picture on it, if you used it to vote and your signature matched how could a poll worker have any question?

I think most people believe that ID is appropriate. You'll need it for the free healthcare (I hope). Right now I need to show ID when I go to the doctor, or get lab work done. Maybe that will go away in the Socialized medicine scheme the dem's have concocted.

Please read my comment above about ID. How is everyone having to buy insurance from private companies socialized medicine? If a single payer like the govt took over all medical care, that would be socialized medicine, but they didn't.
