Football Teams Honored, Township Budget Passes

Check out what's happening today in Warminster.

  • The Warminster Pioneers 75 lb. squad and the Archbishop Wood football team were recognized by the Warminster board of supervisors at Thursday's meeting for their championship seasons. The Pioneers presented the board with a football helmet as thanks, while the Vikings signed copies of the Intelligencer's front page story about last Friday's victory, which will be framed and displayed at the township building.
  • With a 3-1 vote, the supervisors approved the 2014 budget that keeps property taxes level. Frank Feinberg, who participated in his final meeting as a supervisor, voted against the budget because he felt it did not do enough to prepare the township for the healthcare and pension expenses expected to hit the township hard in 2015.
  • The attorneys representing Andrew Cairns, the Warminster man accused of shooting at police officers during a standoff earlier this year that resulted in the death of Marie Zienkewicz, have requested that jurors be taken to the scene of the February incident, according to theintell.com. His trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 27.
  • Don't forget to keep an ear out for Santa Claus as he makes his rounds throughout Warminster Saturday and Sunday.
  • Partly cloudy today, with highs near 53, according to the National Weather Service. This leads into a warm weekend that will see 68 degree weather on Sunday and possible showers and a thunderstorm.
