Hatboro Federal Donates $222,222 to Area Educational Groups

President and CEO Joseph J. Tryon, Jr., of Hatboro Federal Savings (www.hatborofed.com), is pleased to announce the donation of $222,222 to eight Bucks County and Eastern Montgomery County educational foundations and community groups.

The recipients sharing the 2013 funding donation are CB Cares, Centennial Education Foundation, Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation, Mercer Museum, Cradle of Liberty Council Boy Scouts of America, Upper Moreland Education Foundation, Outdoor School in Horsham/College Settlement Camp, and Union Library of Hatboro.

"A good education is the most valuable tool one can use to carve out a successful path in life," says Tryon. "The funds for education that Hatboro Federal contributes annually enable students to have enriched classroom experiences utilizing state-of-the-art instructional technology, the finest educators, and creative outreach programs. Hatboro Federal will continue our more than 70-year tradition and commitment to provide our neighboring communities with the best resources available."

CB Cares (www.cb-cares.org), located in Doylestown, is a coalition of individuals, businesses, and agencies whose goal is to promote positive values, attitudes, and behavior, particularly in our communities' youth. The framework for CB Cares' programs and initiatives is the 40 Developmental Assets.

The Centennial Education Foundation (www.centennialef.org), in Warminster, is a non-profit organization committed to providing enriching educational opportunities, programs and projects for students in the Centennial School District since 1997.

The Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation (www.hhef.org), headquartered in Horsham, is a nonprofit organization created to encourage excellence and to enhance and enrich educational opportunities offered to the students of the Hatboro-Horsham School District.

Built in 1916, by Henry Chapman Mercer, the Mercer Museum (www.mercermuseum.org), exhibits depict everyday life in America during the 18th and 19th centuries. 55 exhibit rooms and alcoves display more than 40,000 objects that document the tasks and tools of early Americans prior to the Industrial Revolution. More than 65,000 people from around the world visit annually. The museum, operated by the Bucks County Historical Society, offers in-house programs, events, educational exhibits, outreach programs and tours for audiences of all ages.

The Cradle of Liberty Council Boys Scouts of America (www.colbsa.org), serves Montgomery, Philadelphia, and Delaware Counties providing programs for more than 17,000 youth in over 500 units through its traditional and outreach efforts. Through the "Exploring and Learning for Life" programs, young men and women are provided with internships and exposed to work-based opportunities to help them better prepare for college, and become successful members of the work force.

The Upper Moreland Education Foundation (www.umef.org), located in Willow Grove, was formed in 1999 by a group of Upper Moreland area residents as a private, non-profit foundation to provide the Upper Moreland community with enhanced learning opportunities through creative and innovative educational programs.

The Outdoor School in Horsham/College Settlement Camp has been located in Horsham Township since 1922. The Outdoor School began offering residential environmental education programs on the College Settlement property in 1973. The facilities are open for school participation in the fall and spring. The Union Library of Hatboro (www.hatborogov.org/library), founded in 1755, is the second oldest library in Pennsylvania, and is on the State Registry of Historical Places. The library expanded for the second time in 2000, with space dedicated for the Children's Wing and its noted children's reading and educational program.

Hatboro Federal Savings, one of Bucks and Eastern Montgomery Counties' leading community banks, was chartered by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board in February 1941, and has current assets of more than $518 million.
