OKLAHOMA! BE THERE FOR THE FUN William Tennent High School to Perform the Broadway Classic April 11 & 12

On April 11th and 12th, William Tennent High School performs Oklahoma! The Rogers and Hammerstein classic is the high school’s most ambitious to date, involving 90 cast members, stage crew members and musicians.

If you think you have seen Oklahoma!, think again. Director Julie Flack’s production is a marriage between the 1943 play and the 1999 Hugh Jackman film version. While it is still a story about the rivalry between a farm hand and a cowboy for the heart of a farm girl in the Oklahoma territory of the 1900’s, it features several updated twists.

The talented cast includes several students who will study music and theater when they enter college. Warminster Symphony musicians will perform with William Tennent musicians.

Flack said, “We are excited to host a production that allows so many of our students with interest in music and theater to participate. The cooperation and enthusiasm of the actors, stage crew and musicians will ensure a quality performance.”

And while enjoying the fine acting and magical music, the audience is invited to have a bit of fun and try to identify as many antiques as possible. Reclaimed-Design provided many items circa 1904, including Aunt Eller’s butter churn, Jud’s tools and more.

The newly-formed William Tennent Arts Alliance has played a significant role in ensuring the success of the play, as has the commitment and contributions of Flack, assistant director Al Catarro and choreographer Ajah Krzywonos.

Performances are April 11, 2014 at 7:00 PM and April 12, 2014 at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. William Tennent High School is located at 333 Centennial Road, Warminster.
