Chooch is Warminster’s Top Dog

With about 29 entries and dozens of votes over three weeks, the photo of Chooch is voted Warminster's Top Dog.

Warminster Patch readers picked Chooch as the in our photo contest.

Chooch is a 20-month-old Rottweiler/Labrador mix who was rescued from a shelter. He was actually a Christmas present to Mary Alice Brancato from her husband, Carman.

“Already having 2 dogs and 7 kids that wasn't the gift I had in mind,” Mary Alice wrote in an email. “But my then 12 year old daughter convinced him that I wanted a puppy to add to this gang.”

Although Chooch seems to own the entire family, Mary Alice is his go-to human.

“Chooch is constantly by my side and is very protective of me. … [he] has gotten me through one of the hardest years of my life.  My sweet mother passed away last July and I had a very hard time.  Chooch pushed me to keep moving like Mom would have wanted.  Chooch sat with me endless hours in the still of the night when I could cry without upsetting the kids. Chooch was the one who heard all my stories and acted like he knew exactly what I was saying.  As silly as it may seem to some ... this sweet dog helped me more than I helped him.”

Warminster voters picked Chooch from all the other entries, with Jake providing close competition.

As the winner, Chooch now moves on to represent Warminster in the next round of voting in a regional contest of Bucks and Montgomery County canines.

Wish Chooch luck.

We’ll start the voting for the regional contest on July 9; look for it.
