Warning: Heavy Rain, Flash Flood Alert Monday

Drivers should stay alert for road delays and detours caused by flooding on Monday across Bucks County.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning starting Sunday night and effective until 10 p.m. Monday for Bucks County and the rest of southeastern Pennsylvania.

Heavy bands of showers and thunderstorms will begin to develop later Sunday and continue all day through Monday, with anticipated rainfall rates near two inches per hour.

The alert advises drivers to watch out for road closures and small streams overflowing due to flash flooding.

Accuweather says, "Due to the substantial rainfall in recent weeks, it will not take much rainfall to cause flash flooding. With the ground saturated with water, just an inch of water in less than a three-hour period of time can lead to flash flooding."

Last week, storms across the East produced widespread flooding and wind damage.

Recent rains made it the wettest June on record for Philadelphia and Wilmington.
