Weekend Planner: Ivyland Days, Car Wash Fundraiser

The small town has a big event planned for Saturday.

Where/when: , 991 Pennsylvania Ave., Ivyland, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: Ivyland Day, which is being coordinated through the borough’s park and recreation department in conjunction with the Ivyland Presbyterian Church, promises to be a fun-filled time for young and old, featuring plenty of free games and crafts for kids (including a dunk tank and live entertainment). Other activities include an art show featuring local artists sponsored by the Ivyland Art League. The Ivyland Fire Department will have its mobile communication vehicle on-site and will be selling hot dogs and sodas. And, members of the Ivyland Presbyterian Church will be selling their famous Ivyland Peach Platters. Fresh peaches will be available for purchase as well.

Where/when: , 859 County Line Rd., Horsham, Sunday noon to 3 p.m.

Why go: The program, will focus on the yellow fever epidemic and its impact on the residents of Graeme Park and their friends and family, including Elizabeth Graeme Ferguson’s long-time friend Dr. Benjamin Rush, who fought tirelessly against the fever using controversial bleeding techniques. Costumed actors will present vignettes related to yellow fever in tours throughout the day.

Cost: $8 for adults, $6 children (ages 6-17)

Where/when: , 212 Everett Ave., Willow Grove, Friday at 8 p.m.

Why go: Kelli Buczek is a singer, songwriter & worship leader with a folk/rock sound. With strong vocals & thoughtful lyrics, her music is intense but subtle. Kelli has played venues all over the world from Chicago to the Philippines.

Cost: Free

Where/when: Bryn Athyn Cathedral, 900 Cathedral Rd., Huntingdon Valley, Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.

Why go: Come purchase plants, produce, flowers, eggs and honey from the gardens. Fresh sausage sandwiches, homemade baked goods and coffee and lots of other goodies. Come see the handmade jewelry, pottery, art work and more.  Great family fun event at a very peaceful outside setting in the heart of Bryn Athyn.
