Weekend Planner: Renowned Tuba Player Featured by Warminster Orchestra

Where/when: William Tennent Auditorium, 333 Centennial Rd., Warminster, Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why go: Warminster Symphony Orchestra will present a program that includes Music from Star Wars, and John Williams' Concerto for Tuba, featuring tuba solist and Penn State Music Professor Velvet Brown.  Also on the program is Symphony No. 8 in G Major by Dvorak and traditional holiday favorites.  Tickets available at the door. 

Cost: $22 per ticket ($20 in advance), $8 for students with ID.

DROID DAUGHTER LIVE AT THE HOUSE OF COFFEE

Where/when: The House of Coffee, 22 N. Main St., Doylestown, Saturday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why go: Local musician and producer Connor Lepre (a.k.a. Droid Daughter) will perform at the Doylestown House of Coffee (formerly Saxby's) located on N. Main Street. Come out and enjoy a great evening of fresh coffee and live electronic/ambient music. Patches and CDs will be for sale before and after the show.

HISTORIC CRAVEN HALL OFFERS A LOOK AT HOLIDAYS PAST

Where/when: Craven Hall, 599 Newtown Rd., Warminster, Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Why go: The Open House will feature open hearth cooking demonstrations as well as story-time and special activities for children. Rumor has it that Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making a special appearance! Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras in order to capture special  holiday moments. Interpreters in period costumes will conduct tours of the historic building, which will be decorated in full holiday splendor. Guests will receive complimentary hot mulled cider from an early colonial recipe. Brunswick stew and other refreshments will be available for purchase.        

Cost: Admission to the Open House is complimentary.  However, donations are always graciously accepted.

 

Where/when: Union Library of Hatboro, 243 S. York Road, Hatboro, Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy Christmas carols while watching Santa arrive by vintage fire truck to light the tree in front of the library as part of the borough’s annual tradition. Afterward, children can meet Santa.

DISTINCTIVE ARTISANS CRAFT SHOW

Where/when: Tamanend Park, 1255 2nd Street Pike, Upper Southampton, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: Fulfill your holiday shopping needs with unique handcrafted gifts or treat yourself to something new. Over 24 artists in the historic 18th century Farmhouse and Carriage House. Pottery, frames, art, jewelry, candles, woven scarves, ornaments, photography, baked goods, chocolate treats, and more.
