Celebrate Your Freedom this Fourth in Philadelphia
The City of Brotherly Love has a full day of events for the Fourth of July.
Warminster and Ivyland offer plenty of summer fun, but sometimes the lure of Philadelphia beckons—and our new Summer in the City feature can help guide you to the fun.
If you feel like venturing out a little farther from home, check here for a weekly suggestion of something fun or interesting to do in the City of Brotherly Love. Whether it's restaurant to try, a festival to attend or special museum exhibits, we'll feature something different every Thursday.
This Fourth of July head to Philly for a full day of events including a parade, live music and, of course, fireworks.

The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. on the Steps of Independence Hall, as excerpts of the Declaration of Independence will be read.
Then at 11 a.m. the parade will march through Historic Philadelphia. About 3,500 patriotic and multicultural marchers, musicians, dancers and floats will grace the streets. Feel free to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to make viewing more enjoyable.

The Party on the Parkway starts soon after—from noon to 7 p.m.—on Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 20th and Eakins Oval. The street fair will span seven blocks and include a variety of entertainment, food, games and activities for the entire family.
Finally, the main event—the July Jam and Grand Finale Fireworks—is slated to start around 7 p.m. Musical performances include Earth, Wind and Fire, Estelle, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Michael McDonald and Sara Bareilles with Philadelphia natives The Roots headlining the show. Screens and speakers will line Benjamin Franklin Parkway, so now matter where you're standing you'll be able to enjoy the music.
The fireworks show should start around 10:30 p.m. at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Visit Philly suggests watching from Lemon Hill, Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Boathouse Row, Kelly Drive, Martin Luther King Drive or Schuylkill River Park for the best view.
The inner and outer lanes of Benjamin Franklin Parkway will be closed to traffic, so plan your driving route in advance. Scout out parking or plan to take public transportation, if possible.
