Community Theater Makes Some Wishes Come True

The Warminster Community Theater Summer Children's Production presents 'Aladdin' at the WREC Center in Warminster. Last show time is Saturday night at 7 p.m.

The Warminster Community Theater Summer Children's Production presents 'Aladdin.' The well known story is the 11th production put on at the WREC Center in Warminster. The last show time is Saturday, July 30 at 7 p.m.

The colorful costumes, eccentric characters, and stimulating set designs and props are a great way to entertain the family this summer.

"It's a production staged by young people, for young people," said Director Charles Bendas of New Britain Township.

Bendas and his wife, Charla, have been directing plays at the WREC Center on Little Lane for a number of years, directing more than 40 plays and musicals collectively during their careers.

Rehearsal for the play started in the middle of June, Bendas said. The cast includes 14 performers from ages 12 to 17.

"It's been really great," Bendas said on opening night Friday. "This is a great bunch of kids."

17-year-old Jacquelyn Lippincott, of Warrington, plays Aladdin's mother, making this her fifth production with the theater group.

"It's been a lot of fun and a lot of experiences," Lippincott said. "This cast is the best I've worked with."

Lippincott's mother, Laura, shared her daughter's enthusiasm.

"The people that put this together are great," Laura said. "They bring out the best in the kids."

Family, friends, and members of the community were present at the play's opening performance Friday.

Sherri Barrett, of Warrington, brought her two children to enjoy the show. It was her first time seeing a production at the WREC Center.

"It's a good thing to bring the kids to," Barrett said. "I've been to a play at the Northampton Library, but never at the WREC."

Barrett found out about the play through an advertisement in a locally printed publication.
