You May Not Be Famous, But You Still Have A Story To Tell Local Author Launches Her Book Slices of Life: The Art and Craft of Memoir Writing at Doylestown Bookshop

Cheryl Butler-Stahle is on a quest to help people tell their stories one memoir at a time. Author of the book Slices of Life: The Art and Craft of Memoir Writing,Butler-Stahle has made it her mission to help others – especially seniors – put their stories to paper, while they are still here to tell them. Butler-Stahle will officially launch Slices of Life on Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. at the Doylestown Bookshop located at 16 South Main Street, Doylestown, PA.

Butler-Stahle, a writing teacher and contributing author of a book of memoir vignettes entitled And the Wind Was No Longer Cold, created Slices of Life to help others who wish to write their own memoirs. The book is comprised of writing activities, prompts, and directions to help an aspiring writer get his or her story written and preserved for years to come.

Butler-Stahle gains tremendous satisfaction from her work. She has assisted an elderly World War II veteran, who was previously unable to speak of his experiences in battle, with putting his stories in writing. She has also worked with an elderly man who was instrumental in the development of the Manhattan Project to help him document his experiences.  In addition to seniors, Butler-Stahle works with adoptive families, single parents and adults at every stage of their life.  

“I feel that all people have a story to tell,” said Butler-Stahle. “They just need a little help in getting their creative juices flowing. That’s why I wrote this book. It takes what I do in writing workshops and puts it in an easy to use format so that anyone can put their stories to paper.”
