Why go: The Craven Hall Historical Society, Inc. will present a special program on colonial herbal recipes used by early settlers to treat various ailments. Instead of making an appointment with the local doctor or dentist, colonial families sought out natural remedies in everyday places such as gardens or backyards. The program, which is free, is included in Craven Hall’s monthly house tour and tour of the newly opened John Fitch Steamboat Museum. The Open House takes place from noon until 3:00 p.m.
