Warminster Musician Rocks 263 Marketplace

26-year-old Jameson Van Horn performed a live show in his hometown of Warminster on Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon, patrons of the 263 Marketplace in Warminster were treated to the musical stylings of pianist Jameson Van Horn, a 25-year resident of Warminster, during a free live concert that debuted Van Horn's new album.

Van Horn and his band rocked the make-shift court yard in the center of the marketplace with their alternative blues rock from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The free concert was part of a promotional performance for Van Horn's debut album entitled In The Shadows, which came out on June 1.

Van Horn and his band have been working on the album for about a year, Van Horn said, the band itself only being a year old as well.

Having played music for practically his entire life, 26-year-old Van Horn first started playing the piano at age 9.

"The first instrument I played was the violin," Van Horn said, "But I was tuning one day and a string snapped and whipped me in the face. That seemed like a pretty good reason to quit to me."

At age 17, Van Horn co-founded a band known as Red Heaven, in which he sang and played piano.

After Red Heaven disbanded in 2007, Van Horn worked as a slate roofer. He also began teaching piano at the Absolute Music School in Hatboro.

Then, about a year ago, Van Horn and members from Red Heaven started a new project, performing Van Horn's original works.

"We've all been friends since middle school," Van Horn said. Van Horn attended Klinger Middle School and graduated from William Tennent High School in 2003.

With the help of Hatboro-based Woofie Publishing Inc. and Van Horn's brother and band manager, Jonathan, Van Horn has already experienced a sizable amount of success.

"They've received air play on 92.5 and 88.5 FM, as well as a number of internet radio stations," Jonathan said.

On 100.3 KILT Radio, Van Horn's single "Icy Roads" ranked No. 8 on their charts.

In The Shadows is currently available for sale on iTunes, Amazon MP3 and 1Mic.Net.

Van Horn's next show is planned for Aug. 20 at the Media Bureau in Philadelphia.
