Warminster Symphony Orchestra to Perform at WTHS Saturday

Eric Werner, a former member of the William Tennent High School Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, as well as the school's Chorus and Madrigal Singers, will return to perform with the Orchestra.

The Warminster Symphony Orchestra will present The Capital Singers in performance with the Orchestra on Saturday evening, March 16 at 8 p.m. in the William Tennent High School Auditorium.

“The Warminster Symphony is thrilled to present The Capital Singers at our March concert,” said Joseph Lovecchio, the orchestra’s music director and conductor.

“I believe that the audience will be captivated and lifted by the majesty of the music on this exceptional program," he said.  "For lovers of choral music especially, this is a concert not to be missed.”

The program will include 'Choral Fantasy' and “Hallelujah” from Christ on the Mount of Olives by Ludwig Van Beethoven and 'A Distant Land' by John Rutte

Soloists for the Choral Fantasy include soprano Valerie V. Gay , mezzo soprano Crystal Charles, tenor and WTHS alum Eric Werner and bass John Wentz.  The piano soloist is Thomas Purviance.

Eric Werner is a graduate of William Tennent High School, where he was a member of the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Joseph Lovecchio as well as the Chorus and Madrigal Singers. After graduation, he went on to study at Muhlenberg College, then pursued his Master of Music Degree at the Peabody Conservatory.

Eric, now a Tenor began his vocal career as a bass and has sung in virtually every male vocal category. Favorite roles, prior to his vocal change include Mozart's Figaro, Le Philosophe in Massenet's Cherubin, Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte, Caspar, in Schuman's Genoveva with the Bard SummerScape Festival and Morales in Carmen with Opera Delaware, the production where he met his wife, Mezzo-Soprano Erika Person.

Recently, he has been seen as Richard Scrop in the Liederkranz Opera Theatre's Production of Marschner's Der Vampyr and as the cover for Loge in their production of Wagner's Das Rheingold. Eric is a former member of the Baltimore Opera Chorus, the Chorus of Opera Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Singers. He has appeared with Philadelphia's Center City Opera Theater, The Other Company, The Bristol Riverside Theater and the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players. He is currently a Tenor soloist at the Church of St Francis of Assisi in New York City.

The Capital Singers of Trenton, N.J., under the direction of artistic director and conductor Richard M. Loatman, is a mixed, semi-professional chorus with the mission to promote the art of choral singing. 

Goodwill ambassadors of the city of Trenton, the Singers have appeared with numerous music ensembles, inspiring audiences with their rich vocal performance. 

Warminster Symphony Orchestra marks its 46th anniversary this year of bringing music performance to the local area.  It is composed of nearly 70 musicians from all walks of life, most of whom are volunteers.
