Youth Orchestra Prepares for Spring Concert

The Youth Orchestra of Bucks County includes more than 200 students from across the area.

Members of The Youth Orchestra of Bucks County are preparing for their annual Spring Concert, scheduled for Saturday, April 9 at Neshaminy’s Maple Point Middle School in Middletown Township. Check out the video to see some of the groups at work.

The Spring Concert will be presented in two parts. The Junior/Intermediate Division, which includes Philharmonia, Concertino, Prima Strings, Flute Choir and Wind Symphony, performs at 2 p.m. with doors opening at 1:40 p.m. The Advanced Division, which includes the Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Flute Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, performs at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7:40 p.m.

The evening concert will also feature two winners of YOBC’s annual Concerto Competition: Pennsbury senior Jane He, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 17 in G Major; and Council Rock North senior Claire Buhr, performing Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, Op. 28 by Camille Saint-Saens.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students and seniors and are available at the door.

YOBC features more than 230 students each year, in grades 3–12, representing 27 school districts in Bucks and surrounding counties. This year's groups include 10 from the Warminster area.

In more than 20 years, more than 1,500 students have played with a YOBC ensemble and those 20 years will be celebrated on May 21 with a Gala Concert at Trenton’s War Memorial.
