Modell's Assists Warminster Baseball, Soccer Teams with Donation

The sporting goods retail store presented a $2,000 check Thursday afternoon to help the teams replace some of the equipment lost in last weekend's storage shed fire.

After a pretty rough weekend, the Warminster baseball and soccer clubs received a boost from a longtime sponsor Thursday afternoon.

Representatives from presented a $2,000 donation to the teams at the Warminster store to help replace the equipment lost in a at Munro Park last weekend.

"I saw on the news what happened," said Derrick Morgan, manager of business development and team sales for Modell's. "Being a sponsor of the teams for such a long time, and a Warminster resident personally, I just knew we had to step up and help anyway we could."

The $2,000 store credit will be split between the two organizations as they begin replenishing the baseballs, soccer balls, nets, bats, paint, pitching machines and everything else that was completely destroyed in the blaze.

"I went out to Munro Sunday morning and couldn't believe my eyes," said Bob Stecklein, vice president of Warminster Baseball. "Modell's gave us a great jump start for the rest of the season. We're ecsatic because it gives us some relief from having to use our own funds."

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined by the Warminster fire marshal.
