New Wawa Grand Opening on Friday

The new convenience store and gas pumps will be open to the public at 8 a.m. on Friday, with a grand opening celebration at 10 a.m.

One of the burning questions that has been on Warminster residents' minds will finally be answered on Friday.

After years of wondering when the township will get a Wawa in the center of town, the new convenience store and gas pumps constructed at Street Road, next to the CVS on Mearns Road, will open its doors at 8 a.m. on Friday, with a grand opening celebration beginning at 10 a.m., according to a company spokesperson.

The long process of getting plan approvals from the township and PennDOT began before the launch of Warminster Patch in November 2010. Readers frequently asked when the new store would be built, anxious for a branch of the hugely popular stores to be accessible in the thick of the township.

It is not widely known that Warminster actually already has a Wawa in the township. Since it is located on the tip of the township's border at Davisville and County Line Road, it is not necessarily a convenient stop for people that live closer to Archbishop Wood, for example. Not to mention the fact that the Wawa at Davisville Road has been closed and demolished to make way for a new superstore with gas pumps.

The void left behind the temporary removal of the Davisville Wawa will be filled Friday morning as customers will surely line up for the coffee. The chain's popularity is not lost on established business owners such as the Conly family, which runs the Yum Yum Donuts across the street. The bakery has revamped its front signs and even welcomed the new competition to the neighborhood on its LED sign.
