  • The Warminster Board of Supervisors meets tonight at the township building. On the agenda is consideration of candidates to fill the committee that will develop a parks and recreation plan for the WREC Center.
  • Thunderstorms likely today with the possibility of wind gusts and a high near 88, according to the National Weather Service.
  • Approximately $12,000 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets were believed to have been stolen from a Hatboro convenience store, including at least one winning ticket, police told .
  • Silicon Valley legend Steve Jobs, who has been on medical leave for an undisclosed condition since Jan. 17, resigned as chief executive of Apple Wednesday, saying he could "no longer meet" the duties and expectations of the job, MSNBC.com reports. Interim CEO Tim Cook was immediately elevated to CEO, while Jobs, 56, will stay on as chairman of the board.
  • On this date, August 25, 1965, Archibald "Moonlight" Graham died in Chisholm, Minn. Graham's infamous single inning appearance in a Major League baseball game was immortalized in the book Shoeless Joe and its film adaptation, Field of Dreams.
