Five Things for April 1

What's going on around town today.

Happy April Fools Day! Trust no one.

  • The National Weather Service calls for a cold and wet one today. Rain will fall up until 2 p.m., with a 30 percent chance it will come back before 8 p.m. Temperatures will reach a high of 48 degrees.
  • The Philadelphia Phillies open their 2011 season with a home game against the Houston Astros at 1:05 p.m., weather permitting, with Roy Halladay taking on former Phillie pitcher Brett Myers. Congrats to everybody who has tickets and will freeze their kiesters off at Citizens Bank Park while I will be watching from my nice, warm couch.
  • The Warminster Business and Civic Association will hold its first public meeting at the Warminster Library April 6 at 7:15 p.m. All are invited to talk about topics relevant to Warminster residents, including the tax raises and school district construction.
  • Bucks County Community College will raise its tuition $10 per credit next year, phillyburbs.com reports. The jump includes $6 for tuition and $4 for the technology fee.
  • On this day, April 1, 1976, Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne establish Apple Computers, Inc. in Cupertino, Calif. The company was first formed to sell the Apple I personal computer kit. Wayne sold his share of the company in 1977 to Jobs and Wozniak for $800.
