Five Things for April 27

What's going on around town today.

  • About 200 middle school students from Bucks and Mongtomery counties will compete in breast cancer fundraiser for the Eilene Stein Jacoby Foundation at its Ivyland location on Friday at 6 p.m. The kids will participate in games including dodgeball, tug of war and relay races.
  • Registration for summer remedial and enrichment courses at the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology for students entering grades 7-12 will open May 3. The sessions run July 5-29.
  • Sharon Balek, 35, of Philadelphia, was sentenced Monday to two years of probation and banned from Pennsylvania casinos for leaving her two daughters in the parking lot at  while she played slot machines for over six hours, according to a story on PhillyBurbs.com.
  • Sony has admitted that hackers have stolen the personal information of customers who use the company's online PlayStation Network, MSNBC reports. While Sony officials don't believe credit card information was taken, they say that hackers may have taken names, addresses, email addresses, birthdates and passwords among other things.
  • On this day, April 27, 2005, the super jumbo jet Airbus makes its first flight from Toulouse, France.
