  • The execution date for Robert Anthony Flor, who shot and killed Newtown Borough Police Officer Brian Gregg, has been set for Sept. 29, NewtownPatch . Governor Tom Corbett on Wednesday signed the execution warrant for Flor, who was sentenced to death for killing Gregg. He will be executed by lethal injection, according to information from the Governor’s office.
  • Scientists have found new evidence for possible saltwater flows on Mars, CNN reports. The discovery was announced at a NASA news conference Thursday.
  • On this day, August 4, 1944, the Gestapo is tipped off on the whereabouts of Anne Frank and her family and captures them in a hidden room located at her father's office building in Amsterdam.
