  • According to the nationwide Lundberg Survey, the average U.S. price of gasoline jumped 18 cents a gallon in the past two weeks due to rising costs of crude oil and related concerns about tensions in the Middle East, although supplies of fuel remained plentiful in most of the country, Reuters reports. The national average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline rose to $3.69 on February 24, according to the nationwide survey of gasoline stations in the continental United States.
  • On this day, February 27, 1951, the Twenty-second Amendment to the United States Constitution, limiting Presidents to two terms, is ratified.
