  • The Bucks County Commissioners approved 21 contracts for 11 county departments during a short meeting earlier this week.
  • Today the high will be around 36 with a chance of snow showers after midnight, according to the National Weather Service.
  • Canadian freestyle skier Sarah Burke died Thursday, nine days after crashing at the bottom of the superpipe during a training run in Utah, the Associated Press reports. Burke, who lived near Whistler in British Columbia, was 29. She was injured Jan. 10 while training at a personal sponsor event at the Park City Mountain resort.
  • On this day, January 20, 1901, John Marshall is appointed the Chief Justice of the United States.
