Five Things for July 16

What's going on around town today.

  • There's a new option to help Warminster residents cool off. Today is the grand opening of Menchie's Frozen Yogurt at the Center Point shopping center. Doors open at 11 a.m., near the Hair Cuttery.
  • Davis Elementary parents got a sneak peek at the new dismissal schedule. Check it out at and tell us what you think.
  • Did you feel that thunder last night? No worries, we're back into the 90s today, near 93, according to the National Weather Service.
  • Microsoft is pulling out of the joint venture that owned MSNBC.com, freeing the world's largest software maker to build its own online news service, the Associated Press reports. NBC is buying Microsoft's 50 percent interest in the MSNBC website for an undisclosed amount. MSNBC.com will be rebranded as NBCNews.com, and readers who logged into MSNBC.com late Sunday were automatically redirected to NBCNews.com.
  • On this day, July 15, 1941, Joe DiMaggio hits safely for the 56th consecutive game, a streak that still stands as a MLB record.
