What's going on around town today.

  • The Warminster Board of Supervisors have cancelled the July 28 meeting. The next scheduled meeting is Aug. 11.
  • Mostly sunny with a high near 90 today, according to the National Weather Service.
  • Police detectives are investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian on Maple Ave, Upper SouthamptonPatch . Police said shortly before 10 p.m., a 16-year-old female was struck by a light colored sedan on Maple Avenue near Stahl Road. 
  • The U.S. Postal Service is expected to announce a plan Tuesday to close more than 3,600 post offices, mostly in small communities, to close a widening budget gap, MSNBC reports. The list of proposed closures, amounting to about 11 percent of the total, will be made public Tuesday by Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe.
  • On this day, July 26, 1990, the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 is signed into law by President George H.W. Bush.
