  • Warminster's Department of Parks and Recreation kicks off its free summer concert series with a performance by the Warminster Symphony Orchestra June 29 at the at 7 p.m.
  • One jackpot-winning Cash 5 ticket worth nearly $345,000 from the June 18 drawing was sold at Selecto Supermarket, 320 Pond St., Bristol, BensalemPatch . According to a release, the ticket correctly matched all five balls, 12-16-22-29-40, to win a jackpot of $344,881, less 25-percent federal withholding.
  • President Barack Obama will give a speech on the Afghanistan troop drawdown on Wednesday, a senior administration official told CNN Monday. The news came hours after White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters that Obama had yet to make a final decision on the size and scope of the troop withdrawal, but would do so "soon."
  • On this day, June 22, 1944, President Roosevelt signs the G.I. Bill, which provided college or vocational education for returning World War II veterans as well as one year of unemployment compensation. It also provided many different types of loans for returning veterans to buy homes and start businesses.
