What's going on around town today.

  • In response to the National Weather Service Excessive Heat Warning that is currently in effect, the Board of Bucks County Commissioners will extend hours until 6 p.m. at the Ben Wilson Senior Center this weekend as a respite from the dangerous heat and humidity. The center will be open today and Monday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

  • Chance of some rain in the morning, then highs reaching 98, according to the National Weather Service .
  • The House of Representatives voted Thursday to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for refusing to turn over documents tied to the botched Fast and Furious gun-running sting, CNN reports . The House approved a pair of criminal and civil measures against the attorney general, marking the first time in American history that the head of the Justice Department has been held in contempt by Congress.
  • On this day, June 29, 1974, Mikhail Baryshnikov defects from the Soviet Union to Canada while on tour with Bolshoi Ballet.
