What's going on around town today.

  • Stacey Carey, a teacher from William Tennent has given birth to a set of sextuplets last week at Abington Memorial Hospital. She during a press conference Monday; the babies remain in critical condition in the hospital's NICU.
  • Warminster-based Aon Affinity, the group insurance business of Aon Corporation, received the Campaign Best Practices Award at the United Way (UW) of Bucks County's 2010 Annual Report and Awards Breakfast held at the Spring Mill Country Club in Ivyland on April 29. Aon Affinity raised $16,802 for UW Bucks County in 2010, nearly doubling its 2009 contribution. Sales staff encouraged donations from Aon Affinity's 400 employees and rewarded its employees who donated by giving them a chance to win raffle prizes.
  • Hatboro Borough Council voted unanimously Monday to accept the resignation of  following a nearly three-month suspension, Hatboro-HorshamPatch . In March, when the council voted to suspend the 17-year veteran police officer without pay, officials had said the indefinite suspension was the result of an "ongoing criminal investigation."
  • ABC News reports on a new survey that says 59% of parents provide financial support to their adult children who are no longer in school. The online poll by ForbesWoman and the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) of 1,074 U.S. adults—non-students aged 18 to 39 and their parents—was conducted by Harris Interactive in May.
  • On this day, June 7, 1975, Sony introduces the betamax videocassette to consumers. JVC would introduce the VHS two years later and dominate the home-movie market.
