What's going on around town today.

  • The B-Strong Foundation is holding a Bunco Fundraiser at on March 11 at 3:30 p.m. Adults cost $12 to play, children ages 8-17 years old cost $5. Seating is limited, so RSVP to Tracy Ehleben at (267) 679-2465.
  • Professor Edward G. Lengel of the University of Virginia will speak at the Moland House on March 11 at 1 p.m. and review the detailed childhood drawing of a two-masted sailing vessel done by a 10-year old George Washington that will be on display.  He is an American military historian and Editor-in-Chief of The Papers of George Washington documentary editing project at the University in Charlottesville, Virginia.
  • Mostly sunny today, with a high near 53, according to the National Weather Service.
  • On Thursday, FAA released its annual forecast, projecting that airline passenger travel will nearly double over the next 20 years, NBC reports. According to FAA, U.S. airlines will carry 732 million passengers this year, 746 million next year and eventually 1.2 billion in 2032.
  • On this day, March 9, 1959, the Barbie doll makes its debut at the American International Toy Fair in New York.
