Five Things for May 20

What's going on around town today.

  • Bux-Mont Christian Church in Ivyland will host a Help Build Hope house-building event, benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County, on Saturday, 8-10 a.m. Under the guidance of Crossroads Missions of Louisville, Ky., and along with friends and neighbors, they will frame an entire house on the church grounds.This event is for the whole family.  No prior experience is required.  All tools and materials are provided. 
  • The is hosting a flea market and craft show tonight, 5-8 p.m.
  • State Rep. Tom Murt has led the charge to rename Pennypack Bridge the PFC Joseph J. Lannon, Jr., U.S.M.C. Memorial Bridge after a soldier who died in combat in 1968 during the Vietnam War, to Hatboro-HorshamPatch. The ceremony will be held on Saturday.
  • According to CNN, NATO aircraft targeted warships overnight, striking eight of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's vessels in Tripoli's seaport, the organization said Friday morning. A Libyan government official said the targets included commercial vessels as well as military ones.
  • On this day, May 20, 1916: The Saturday Evening Post publishes its first magazine with a cover drawn by Norman Rockwell.
