Five Things for May 4

What's going on around town today.

  • Auditions for Warminster’s Department of Parks and Recreation’s production of Aladdin will be held May 9-10. Boys and girls ages 12-18 are invited to try out for the show at the at 7 p.m.
  • Warminster planning commission meetings for May 4 and May 18 have been canceled. No development plans were scheduled for review.
  • The Warminster Free Library celebrates its 50th birthday on June 11. The celebration runs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and will include a clown, miniature golf and hot dogs, snacks and cupcakes.
  • Pope John Paul II was beautified in Vatican City on Sunday. Once a third miracle is verified by the church, he will be canonized as a saint.
  • On this day, May 4, 1979, Margaret Thatcher becomes the first female prime minister of the United Kingdom.
