What's going on around town today.

  • The Marching Unit took home the championship in the Independence A Division of the Hershey Calvacade of Bands competition last Saturday. The unit earned the highest overall score, and was also awarded High Visual achievement, High Overall Effect achievement, High Music Achievement an best auxiliary.
  • Warminster Township is accepting proposals for snow plowing services for the 2011/2012 winter season. Proposals should be submitted to Warminster Township, 401 Gibson Avenue, Warminster Pa 18974, Attention Township Manager, no later than Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Proposals should include a detailed list of equipment, including gross vehicle weight and hourly rate, including an operator’s services. All vehicles must have yellow flashing beacon lights and all drivers must comply with all CDL requirements. Snow Plowing contractors who are awarded this contract are required to submit proof of $1,000,000 liability insurance, including coverage document. The insurance must name Warminster Township as insured parties. 
  • The sunshine had to end eventually. High chance of showers, mainly in the afternoon, with a high near 63, according to the National Weather Service.
  • Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky admitted to showering and horsing around with young boys but said he is not a pedophile in an interview with Bob Costas for NBC News' Rock Center that aired last night. "I say that I am innocent of those charges," said Sandusky in a phone interview with Costas. When asked by Costas, "Are you a pedophile," Sandusky responded, "No."
  • On this day, November 15, 1969, the first Wendy's restaurant opens in Columbus, Ohio.
