What's going on around town today.

  • The William Tennent football team hosts Bensalem High School tonight at 7 p.m., kicking off Tennent's homecoming weekend. The dance is Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
  • Tennent freshman Kelsey Timte is holding a Beef and Beer event at the General Davis House Saturday night, 7-10 p.m., to raise money for her to join the Tennent chorus when it travels to London to .
  • Cloudy today, with a high near 76 and chances for showers up to 7 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
  • Gap will reduce the number of its U.S. stores to 700 by 2013, a 34 percent decline from 2007, NBC reports. Although it is shrinking its retail footprint in the U.S., the company announced it is expanding Gap and Banana Republic stores in China, Italy and South America. It is planning on tripling its Gap stores in greater China from roughly 15 at the end of this year to about 45 by the end of 2012, according to the press release.  
  • On this day, October 14, 1926, A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh is first published.
