Five Things for October 28

What's going on around town today.

  • Elementary and middle school children will receive free admittance to William Tennent's home football game tonight at 7 p.m. against Neshaminy if they show up in their Halloween costumes. They will also get a chance to enter the stadium with the school's marching band.
  • Autism Cares Foundation will hold its second annual Race for Resources on Saturday, Nov. 12 at , Newtown Patch .  The event features a 10K and 5K run as well as a two-mile walk. The day will also feature a free Autism Expo with more than 50 local organizations on hand with information about autism-related resources.
  • The National Weather Service forecasts a mostly sunny day with a high near 52, but some overnight rain and possible snow Saturday evening.
  • Stocks closed higher on Thursday after European leaders agreed on a plan to avert a Greek default and the Commerce Department announced third-quarter gross domestic product grew 2.5 percent, boosted by higher consumer spending, allaying fears that the economy is slipping into another recession, ABC News reports.
  • On this day, October 28, 1886, President Grover Cleveland dedicated the Statue of Liberty.
