  • Centennial School District has scheduled a special administrative transition community meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. at to discuss the departure of and the appointment of as acting principal of Willow Dale Elementary.
  • Registration is open for the second annual Miles for Kyle 5K Run/Walk, taking place at  on Sept. 11 at 7:45 a.m. Early registration for adults cost $25, $5 for children, with proceeds going to the Kyle Quinn Memorial Scholarship.
  • Rain today, sometimes heavy, with a high of 67, according to the National Weather Service.
  • The U.S. Postal Service does not have the money to meet an obligation to a retiree health care trust fund coming due at the end of the month, but if there's a default, officials promise no interruption in the mail, the payroll, or payments to suppliers, CNN reports.
  • On this day, September 6, 1995, Cal Ripken, Jr. played his 2,131st consecutive game, breaking a 56-year-old record.
