Enjoy some Celtic fun, see Elvis, or take in a great play

It’s Thursday, and the weekend is almost here. Need something to do?

St. Patrick’s Day is next Thursday so why not get a jump on some Celtic Fun? Patch has found some fun events and we still have some St. Patty's Day ideas for next weekend.

If Green beer and Irish food are not your thing, then maybe you would like to see Elvis, or take in a chilling play.

The Village Players Present: "Wait Until Dark"

Where/When: Village Players, 401 Jefferson Ave., Hatboro. Friday and Saturday 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.

Why Go: This play is equal parts charming and devilish. It’s chilling, thrilling, and absolutely nail-biting, "Wait Until Dark" is a story sure to have you on the edge of your seat, right up to its terrifying conclusion.

Pricing: $12 Friday and Saturday, $10 Sunday matinee 

 Archbishop Wood Robovikings – Penny 'n Change Party

Where/When: Archbishop Wood High School, 655 York Road in Warminster. Saturday 5 p.m.

Why Go: You could win great prizes, like restaurant and retail store gift certificates, movie tickets, movies on DVD, sports memorabilia, video games, kitchen items, children’s items, picture frames, and so much more. 

There will be a concession stand and 50/50 drawing (tickets available for separate purchase.)

Pricing: $10 individual; $30 families at the door – discounts for advanced tickets. Ticket price includes price of admission, penny party drawing number (each family member will receive his/her own drawing number), coffee/tea and dessert.

 Elvis Tribute

Where/When: Radisson Hotel Philadelphia Northeast, 2400 Old Lincoln Highway in Feasterville. Friday 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.    

Why Go: The Memories of Elvis Live. Elvis tribute preformed by Vince DeBlasis.

Pricing: $27 per person includes show and dinner buffet. Call 267-525-4011 to purchase tickets.   

Julian Lawrence Gargiulo, Pianist

Where/When: Glencairn Museum, 1001 Cathedral Road in Bryn Athyn. Sunday 3 p.m. (doors open 2:30 p.m.) 

Why Go: Come out and enjoy the music of a dynamic classical pianist who renders the compositions of renowned masters with extraordinary passion and precision. He will be joined by internationally established recitalist, chamber musician and orchestra soloist, Maria Yefimova, and the acclaimed trumpet virtuoso, Joe Burgstaller.

Pricing: $15 adults, $10 members/students with ID.

Celtic Fun – 4 Great Events  

Where/When: Temperance House, Five South State St., Newtown. Saturday 8 p.m.

Why Go: 8th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration featuring Irish menu, and music by Celtic Pride, playing Irish tunes and cover favorites.  

Pricing: $10 cover

Where/When: Crossing Vineyards and Winery, 1853 Wrightstown Rd., Washington Crossing. Saturday and Sunday noon-6 p.m.

Why Go: Live Irish Music featuring The Boys of County Bucks from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Pricing: Case discounts available

Where/When: New Hope Winery  6123 Lower York Road, New Hope. Friday 8 p.m. (doors open 7 p.m.).

Why Go: The Hooligans Live in Concert. Get your Irish on in time for St. Patty's Day! The true impact of this band can be best experienced by seeing them live. Add that to the band's mix of upbeat, rootsy, rocking Celtic sounds, and you've got music that appeals to all ages and backgrounds.

Pricing: $25 per ticket

Where/When: St Baldricks-Shave Your Head for Cancer at Chapman Horsham - Chrysler Jeep Dodge Showroom, 1100 Easton Road in Horsham. Saturday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., head-shaving event;  7-11 p.m. Beef and Beer fundraiser

Why Go: St Baldrick's is a nationwide annual head-shaving event in solidarity of children who lose their hair to cancer treatments.  The special guests and child honoree for this event will be Mikaela, age 6, and her mother, Beth Hart Gibson.

There will be a beef/beer following the event at the North Penn VFW in Glenside from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. featuring dinner, dancing and prizes (must be 21 or over to attend). Tickets are sold in advance and are limited.
