Lack of Attorney Postpones Dinkins Trial to January

County Judge Wallace Bateman has postponed the trial of former William Tennent High School choral director Tyrone Dinkins until January 7 after Dinkins appeared in court Tuesday without legal representation.

Dinkins, 37, has remained in the county correctional facility since his arrest in August over allegations that he had indecent contact with a number of his female students. He faces four felonies and 12 misdemeanors related to the accusations of unlawful content and indecent assault of the students.

At a preliminary hearing before magisterial Judge Daniel Finello in September, each victim detailed their encounters with Dinkins, ranging from suggestive text messages, comments about the way they dressed or physical contact that included pinching of their butts and, in one incident, a breast.

At the time, Marc Neff represented Dinkins during the preliminary hearing. It is unknown why he is no longer Dinkins' attorney.
