May 10: Police Unity Tour Rides into Warminster

What's going on around town today.

  • The Police Unity Tour will be making a lunch stop today at the Warminster Police Department at approximately noon.  Riders will be coming south on York Road and turning on to Henry Ave. to take their scheduled lunch break. A wreath presentation will be done prior to the tour gearing back up and continuing on their multiday journey to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington, D.C. Warminster Police is represented again by Sergeant David Erenius, who is being sponsored by and some other private donors.
  • William Tennent's softball team travels to Abington for a 3:45 p.m. game. The baseball team hosts a 3:45 p.m. game against Abington.
  • Mostly sunny, with a high near 66, according to the National Weather Service.
  • Legendary hairstylist Vidal Sassoon died of "apparent natural causes" at his Los Angeles home Wednesday morning, a Los Angeles police spokesman told CNN. He was 84.
  • On this day, May 10, 1869, the First Transcontinental Railroad, linking the eastern and western United States, is completed at Promontory Summit, Utah with the golden spike.
